2. Arbeitslosengeld II (ALG II) – Unemployment Benefit II or Bürgergeld :

Eligibility: This is for those who are capable of working but whose unemployment benefit I has expired, or who have not earned enough for ALG I. It’s also for low-income workers to supplement their income.
Duration: The benefit is means-tested, considering the income and assets of the recipient and their household.
Amount: The amount varies, as it covers the basic cost of living, including food, clothing, housing, heating, and personal needs. The exact amount is calculated based on individual circumstances.
Additional Aspects: Similar to ALG I, recipients must actively search for work and participate in job training or other programs as required. Failure to comply can result in benefits being reduced.
